INTEL FILES SUIT AGAINST BROADCOM.


Intel Corp. this week filed a lawsuit in federal court against Broadcom Corp. for patent infringement patent infringement n. the manufacture and/or use of an invention or improvement for which someone else owns a patent issued by the government, without obtaining permission of the owner of the patent by contract, license or waiver. . This is the latest move in what has become an increasingly contentious relationship between the two chip manufacturers. The suit was filed in Wilmington, Delaware Wilmington is the largest city in the state of Delaware and is located at the confluence of the Christina River and Brandywine Creek, near where the Christina flows into the Delaware River. . Intel claims that Broadcom, has violated vi·o·late  
tr.v. vi·o·lat·ed, vi·o·lat·ing, vi·o·lates
1. To break or disregard (a law or promise, for example).

2. To assault (a person) sexually.

3.
 Intel patents by implementing a "carefully crafted plan to build Broadcom's business using Intel technology."

Intel, claims that the patents Broadcom is allegedly infringing are related to networking products, video decoding de·code

2. To convert from a scrambled electronic signal into an interpretable one.

 used in cable-modem products and the silicon packaging Broadcom uses to sell its chips.

This is the second lawsuit filed by Intel against Broadcom this year. In the earlier suit Intel claimed that Broadcom had practiced unfair competition and misappropriated mis·ap·pro·pri·ate

 Intel trade secrets when it hired several Intel employees. Intel and its Level One Communications subsidiary claimed that Broadcom targeted Intel employees hiring them to design products that compete with Intel's high-speed-networking products.
