INTEGRATED HEALTH SERVICES UNVEILS NEW CORPORATE IDENTITY

HUNT VALLEY, Md., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Integrated Health Services (NASDAQ: IHSI) today announced it has a new look and a new message. IHS officially unveiled its new corporate identity reinforcing its leadership position in subacute care and its service orientation. Also, IHS will add the tag line, Hospital Care Without Hospital Costs, to its new identity.
"Our new corporate identity reflects the company's forward momentum into America's changing healthcare arena," said Robert N. Elkins, M.D., chairman and chief executive officer of Integrated Health Services. "IHS has matured into a healthcare organization that is moving progressively into the 21st century, while maintaining its high quality of care. We believe our new corporate identity represents that ongoing motion."
Since 1986, IHS has pioneered and perfected the model of cost effective, high quality care through its concept of Medical Specialty Units (MSUs). MSUs provide subacute medical care to stabilized patients who would otherwise require acute hospital care at approximately 50 percent less cost. Today, the company operates 67 centers nationwide. Within these facilities, IHS manages more than 8,700 beds. The company is in a strong financial position, with a high, sustained rate of earnings growth and momentum.
"I founded IHS on an innovative premise to maximize medical care, while minimizing medical cost," said Dr. Elkins. "Seven years ago, that concept was almost unheard of. Although we have seen substantial growth over the years and achieve new records every quarter, we have not lost that sense of innovation. We are the undisputed leader in this area and continually look for ways to expand our market reach and stay ahead of change instead of one step behind. Our new visual identity symbolizes IHS' embrace of innovation and optimum performance."
IHS is the leading provider of subacute care which uses its Medical Specialty Unit (MSU) program to provide a wide range of subacute stage medical and rehabilitative services traditionally given in an acute care hospital. Patients who are medically stable but require sophisticated monitoring and therapy receive specialized care such as ventilator therapy, wound management and post-operative care. The MSU setting is both cost effective and less institutional.
