INSURANCE INDUSTRY LEADER SET FOR MIAMI VISIT; JOHN ALDEN EMPLOYEES TO OFFER THANKS FOR STORM AID

MIAMI, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- A key leader in the American Insurance industry will be in Miami on Monday, Aug. 23 to attend ceremonies at the John Alden Life Insurance headquarters marking the first anniversary of Hurricane Andrew.
Former U.S. Senator Richard Schweiker, president of the American Council of Life Insurance (ACLI) will attend to accept thanks from John Alden executives and employees for ACLI's support in recovering from the storm damage.
Immediately after the storm, ACLI donated money to John Alden and other local insurance companies for employee relief. John Alden added its own contributions to buy food, water and other supplies as well as paying the first and last month's rent for employees' temporary housing. For John Alden's 1,500 South Florida employees it will be a chance for those who were especially hard hit by the hurricane to share their stories of survival and relate how this support has helped them begin to return their lives to normal.
"Hurricane Andrew was a tragedy that many of us are still recovering from," said John Alden Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Glendon E. Johnson. He added: "One year later, we'd like to take the time to come together as a family to reflect upon and be thankful for how fortunate we were and to express our sincere gratitude to those who were so generous to us."
Local and state leaders have been invited to participate. The program will begin at 4 p.m. in the lobby of John Alden headquarters at 7300 Corporate Center Drive, near Miami International Airport.
