INSIGHT ACQUIRES GERMAN MARKETER COMPUTERPROFIS.

Insight Enterprises Inc, the Tempe, Arizona-based computer direct marketer, has agreed to acquire German direct marketer Computerprofis Computersysteme GmbH for $6m cash and $2.4m in Insight stock, along with additional consideration depending on profits over the next five years. Computerprofis, founded in 1993, is based in Griesheim, Germany, near Frankfurt, and had net sales of around $50m last year. It claims to be among the top five German direct marketers. Insight sells its products to businesses through a combination of direct telephone sales and electronic commerce, and plans to apply its model to Computerprofis. It entered the Canadian market in October 1997 and the UK in April 1998, through the acquisition of Choice Peripherals Ltd for around $6m. Insight generated net sales of $891m in the year ending September 1998.
