INNOCOR ADDS ETHERNET OVER PDH TEST CAPABILITIES.Innocor, Ottawa. Ont., a provider of broadband test solutions, has added the industry's first Ethernet over PDH (EoPDH) test capabilities to its TestPoint product line, as well as Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) test options. The addition of these new transport mechanisms to Innocor's portfolio is providing its customers with more advanced Ethernet testing options. EoPDH refers to the transport of Ethernet traffic onto DS1, E1, DS3, and E3, which is accomplished by framing Ethernet in GFP, as defined in ITU-T G.7043/G.8040, or HDLC. These methods of transporting Ethernet traffic will help service providers leverage existing infrastructure to deliver Ethernet services. Innocor's TestPoint solution is enabling customers to map the PDH signals onto a physical SONET/SDH optical link to test the EoPDH infrastructure and services. RPR, as outlined in IEEE standard 802.17, defines a network protocol optimized for packet transmission in a resilient ring topology. Innocor's TestPoint solution provides test features to intrusively inject and control RPR-level errors within an RPR ring. Innocor's current implementation runs on OC-48/STM-16 where RPR maps into GFP. This RPR intrusive monitor feature enables users to control and impair RPR traffic in order to measure the impact to the overall network. "With Ethernet traffic at the core of more and more networks, test requirements are becoming more complex as companies need to support the multiple transport possibilities that are being enabled. With the addition of these new Ethernet test features, Innocor is responding to market demands to test these emerging standards," said Guylain Barlow, Director of Product Management at Innocor. "Offering Ethernet over PDH and Resilient Packet Ring further reinforces the versatility of Innocor's TestPoint portfolio as one of the leading Ethernet transport test solutions." The EoPDH and RPR test capabilities are available as upgrades on the Multi-Rate Module for the TS-30 and TS-170 chassis and on the TS-10 configuration. Innocor's TestPoint family, including the TS-10, TS-30 and TS-170, offers a flexible and cost effective telecom and datacom solution for manufacturers and R&D environments. Its modular platform provides versatility in configuring interface types, transmission rates, protocols and port density.
