ING NORTH AMERICA INSURANCE ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT OF CEO

 WASHINGTON, July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Joseph H. Youngs will retire from his position as chief executive officer of Internationale Nederlanden North America Insurance Corporation ("ING North America Insurance"), Washington, effective Jan. 1, 1994, in keeping with his longstanding plans.
 His successor as CEO will be R. Glenn Hilliard, currently chief executive officer of ING America Life Corporation, Atlanta. Youngs will continue as chairman of the North American Insurance group through 1994.
 ING North America Insurance is a member of Internationale Nederlanden Group ("ING Group"), Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the world's largest diversified financial services organization. As of year end 1992, ING Group had assets in excess of US$175 billion.
 Youngs became responsible for all insurance operations of ING Group in North America when he was appointed chairman and chief executive officer of Nationale-Nederlanden North America Corporation ("NNNA"), predecessor to ING North America Insurance in 1989. He joined NNNA in 1982 as chief executive officer of Peerless Insurance Company, Keene, N.H. His duties were expanded in 1986 when he was also appointed chairman of Halifax Insurance Company, Toronto, another affiliate of the group.
 Hilliard was appointed chief executive officer of ING America Life Corporation, on Jan. 1. He is responsible for ING Group's operations in the U.S. in the life, health and savings product markets. He joined ING Group in 1989 when he became president and chief executive officer of Security Life of Denver. Before joining Security Life, Hilliard was president of Liberty Life Insurance Company, Greenville, S.C.
 ING North America Insurance is a significant part of ING Group with assets of US$9.8 billion. Premium income in 1992 was approximately US$3.0 billion and profit before tax was US$157 million. ING North America Insurance is organized in four industry sectors providing life, health, savings and property and casualty products throughout the United States and Canada.
