ING EBCN has developed several portals, such as the well-established Wellowell, an independent virtual financial advisor that enables consumers to explore and compare products and services -- such as mortgages, savings accounts Savings Account

Freeler, which enables people to find their way on the Web and offers content on a broad range of subjects, such as travel, money, music and gaming.

"Vignette is one of the best content management providers in the market and its technology integrates very well with the systems of our partners," said Harry Steenkamp, director of ING EBCN. "Since many companies provide content for our Web sites, this is very important for our success. Furthermore, Vignette's analysis tools will be indispensable to our marketing department, which is now able to gain insight into the individual needs of our customers, based on their viewing patterns."

Vignette's technology will allow ING E-Business Centre to maintain the content of its portals efficiently. For ING EBCN, the advantage of Vignette's content management server is that it will allow one group of people to maintain several portals easily with one system, regardless of the individual look and feel of the sites. This will result in increased efficiency, deliver significant cost and time savings, and enable ING E-Business Centre to focus on its core business of creating profitable consumer portals.

ING EBCN cited the completeness and flexibility of Vignette's solution, together with its innovation and seamless integration An addition of a new application, routine or device that works smoothly with the existing system. It implies that the new feature or program can be installed and used without problems. Contrast with "transparent," which implies that there is no discernible change after installation.  with industry-standard enterprise technologies, as the key reasons for choosing Vignette. Furthermore, ING EBCN has had very good experiences with Vignette, including with its subsidiary Postbank, one of the largest financial service providers in the Netherlands. Postbank has been using Vignette software for its Web site (http://www.postbank.nl/) since 1999.

"ING EBCN is a prime example of how to develop portals for a wide variety of interests successfully," said Dan J. Lautenbach, senior vice president of Global Sales and Operations for Vignette. "Working with companies like ING supports Vignette's strategy of targeting large international companies that are taking traditional business online and looking to manage their various Web sites and portals from one centralized cen·tral·ize
