INFORMATION INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION (IIA) SPONSORS FIRST-EVER WORLD FINANCIAL INFORMATION CONFERENCE

 WASHINGTON, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Information Industry Association (IIA) will sponsor the first worldwide meeting focused exclusively on financial information dissemination and use. The World Financial Information Conference will be held Oct. 17-21 at the Washington Renaissance Hotel.
 The conference, designed by IIA's Financial Information Services Division (FISD), will be held in conjunction with IIA's 25th Anniversary Convention & Global Congress. It will bring equities, future and options exchanges from around the world together with information vendors, news organizations and brokerage firms to discuss critical issues related to the dissemination and use of real-time financial information. Participants will include more than 200 representatives from 80 companies throughout 30 countries.
 "An increase in global investing combined with new communications and workstation technologies have forced a debate on the issues surrounding financial information dissemination and use. This conference will explore topics such as data access, information entitlements, redistribution, market transparency and symbology," said IIA President Kenneth B. Allen.
 The opening day of the conference provides an interactive opportunity for international exchanges to outline their plans for market data distribution and their requirements for vendor access. Established and emerging exchanges from North America, Europe, the Pacific Rim and Latin America will participate.
