INFOMED TO PROVIDE DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM FOR AETNA'S PRIMARY CARE CENTERS

PRINCETON, N.J., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Script Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of InfoMed Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: IMHI), a leading provider of home healthcare and practice management information systems, and Aetna Professional Management Corporation (APMC), today announced an agreement that calls for InfoMed to provide a state-of-the-art Clinic Data Processing System for Aetna to use in its primary care centers. Aetna intends to establish primary care centers in key cities across America.
APMC will use InfoMed's Script System as its Clinic Data Processing System. Script is a comprehensive, integrated computer system which includes patient registry, billing, insurance claims processing, electronic submission of claims, management reporting, diagnosis and procedure tracking, practice analysis and a full range of clinical and administrative functions. APMC's Script System will operate on the IBM RS/6000 hardware platform.
In announcing the selection, APMC Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Smith said, "We want the HealthWays centers to be on the leading edge in applying information systems technology to increasing healthcare service while decreasing healthcare costs. The Script System gives us the ability to electronically manage things like patient scheduling and registration, eligibility verification, referrals, electronic claims transfer, billing and accounts receivable. And it has the capacity to grow rapidly with us."
APMC is scheduled to open its first six primary care centers in the Atlanta metropolitan area later this year. The offices will be called HealthWays Family Medical Centers and will represent APMC's first step in the direct delivery of healthcare. The centers will be open to all patients, not just those covered by Aetna Health Plans.
Frederick Neufeld, CEO of InfoMed, said that the two companies also plan to develop a National Communications Network, which will allow APMC to connect its headquarters with all of their primary care clinics. The system will provide a "unified file" so that information from all centers will be uploaded to APMC headquarters for appropriate reporting.
InfoMed expects revenues in excess of $500,000 in fiscal 1994 as a result of this new contract.
InfoMed, founded in 1969 to develop, market and sell innovative information systems for the healthcare industry, has more than 24 years of healthcare data processing experience. The company is headquartered in Princeton, with offices in Hackensack, N.J.; Pompano Beach, Fla.; Pleasanton, Calif., and Downers Grove, Ill. InfoMed customers represent varied segments of practice management, home healthcare, IV therapy and home medical equipment providers. InfoMed's STAT 2 healthcare management information system and the company's practice management information system, the Script System, have been installed in over 1,000 locations nationwide.
APMC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Aetna Life Insurance Company. Aetna Health Plans cover 13 million people nationwide.
