INFINITI ESTABLISHES CALENDAR-YEAR SALES RECORD IN AUGUST; SECOND-BEST MONTH IN DIVISION'S HISTORY

CARSON, Calif., Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Breaking last month's calendar-year sales record of 5,135, Infiniti posted August sales of 5,312, the second-best month ever in Infiniti's history, according to figures released today by the luxury-car division of Nissan Motor Corp. USA.
Calendar-year-to-date (CYTD) sales in 1993 total 33,529, up 16 percent over sales of 28,802 for the corresponding period last year. On a percentage basis, Infiniti CYTD sales have increased at a level higher than Mercedes-Benz, Lexus and Acura.
Led by the J30 personal luxury sedan's best-ever sales total of 2,698, August sales were up 19 percent over sales of 4,455 for the corresponding period last year.
Sales of Infiniti's other models included 1,125 Q45 luxury performance sedans and 1,478 G20 luxury sport sedans.
With sales of 36 units per outlet, Infiniti's dealers maintained their leadership position in the luxury-car segment on a sales-per- dealer basis, ahead of BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar.
"Infiniti has built tremendous momentum since the April launch of the restyled Q45 and the enhanced G20," said William R. Bruce. "During that time, the division has experienced tremendous sales growth, taken top honors as 'Best Overall Carline' in J.D. Power & Associates 'Sales Satisfaction Study,' and increased brand and model awareness."
Nissan Motor Corp. USA (Nissan Division and Infiniti Division) posted month-end sales of 63,938, up 10.5 percent over the corresponding sales period last year.
