drivers are out of the IRL championship hunt, but Valencia's Bryan Herta Bryan Herta (b. May 23 1970, Warren, Michigan) is an American race car driver. He currently drives for Andretti Green Racing, which is co-owned by former CART and IRL driver Michael Andretti, in the ALMS, although his career has primarily been spent in open-wheel cars  will be looking to win his first race of the year at a track that has yielded two podium finishes for him in the past three years.

``Chicago is a track where the XM Satellite Radio team has had good results in the past,'' said Herta, a Hart High of Newhall graduate. ``We haven't performed well on the big ovals all season but we keep getting closer, so hopefully we'll be able to end the season on a good note.''

Herta's best finish at Chicagoland came in 2004 when he was second. He had a third-place finish in 2003 and he has never started outside the top 10 in any of his races at Chicagoland Speedway.

Herta is 11th in the IRL standings and wants to finish as high as he can after the Chicagoland race.

``We're still capable of moving up in the championship and that's our goal,'' Herta said.

In 13 races this year, Herta has posted one top-five and six top-10 finishes. His best finish of the year was a fourth place at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

Dario Franchitti, Herta's teammate at Andretti Green Racing, will miss the IRL season finale at Chicagoland Speedway.

Franchitti sustained a concussion during qualifying for the Goodwood Revival at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in Goodwood, England, on Sept. 1.

A.J. Foyt IV will drive Franchitti's car in the IRL race at Chicagoland Speedway.

``I'm very excited to have an opportunity like this to drive the Klein Tools/Canadian Club car for Andretti Green,'' Foyt said. ``It's obviously a great race team and should be a very competitive car on Sunday.

Michael Andretti, one of the Andretti Green team owners, said he is looking forward to having Foyt drive one of his cars.

``It's unfortunate that Dario won't be able to drive, but we're confident that Anthony will do a great job for us,'' Andretti said. ``He's got a lot of natural talent and we're hoping to give him a fast car this weekend.''

In 47 career IRL starts, Foyt has three top-10 finishes.

``We're going to be able to do this at a place where I've got a lot of laps and I expect to have a good, strong weekend,'' Foyt said.
