INDY PACE CAR DRIVERS TO WEAR BOSE STATE-OF-THE-ART HEADSETS THIS YEAR

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The roar of the engines won't stop the Camaro Z28 from setting the pace during the 77th Annual Indianapolis 500, Sunday, May 30. Drivers of this year's official pace car will be wearing specially modified Bose Acoustic Noise Cancelling(R) Headsets -- originally developed by the company for general aviation pilots and military applications.
Proven to enhance cockpit communication and reduce the risk of hearing loss, the Bose headsets are successful in the aviation market where the loud, environmental conditions are comparable to those at the Indy 500.
Renowned pilots Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager called the headsets "mission

critical" for their historic round-the-world Voyager flight. Bose headsets provide 12 to 15 decibels greater noise reduction than conventional protection.
It is essential that pace car drivers can hear and communicate clearly with control tower staff, despite the noise of cars screeching around the track. The Bose headset's advanced, self-contained electronic circuitry generates an out-of-phase signal to cancel low frequency noise, such as the drone of engines -- actually eliminating noise instead of simply muffling it.
Patented Clear Comfort cushions create an acoustic seal that lessens noise without exerting fatiguing pressure to the driver or pilot. The design allows the user to wear the headset for hours on end without discomfort.
Bose Corporation, the developer of the world's first car stereo systems acoustically designed for specific automobiles, is now providing patented Acoustic Noise Cancelling headset technology for the world's most watched one-day automotive sporting event.
For those who would rather cruise around town than race around the Indy track, a Bose music system is currently available in the Camaro Z28.
