Chi Cheng has joined AMW Cuyuna Engines DBA 2 stroke International as chief engineer in Beaufort, S.C. Cheng has worked at Polaris, Caterpillar and General Motors as senior project engineer.

J.B. Davey was also designated corporate secretary and promoted to vice president at AMW Cuyuna Engines DBA 2 Stroke International. Davey has worked 35 years in managing factories and systems. He was previously the general manager of the aircraft manufacturing and development factory in Eastman, Georgia.

GenCorp has announced that J. Robert Anderson has been appointed director of the board. Mr. Anderson previously was vice chairman, chief financial officer and member of the board of directors of the Grumman Corporation.

The Hughes Associates, located in Orange County, Calif., has named Richard H. "Bob" Vezis senior engineer and director of the southern California office. Vezis formally was a fire safety engineer with the Orange County Fire Authority.

The Kaman Corporation, a leading manufacturer of safe, arm and fuzing devices for missiles, based in Bloomfield, Conn. has announced the appointment of Joseph H. Lubenstein as president of its Kaman Aerospace Corporation Division. Lubenstein comes from the Pratt & Whitney division of United Technologies Corporation, where he worked in such divisions as engineering, manufacturing, large commercial engines and aftermarket.

Ginney Hartman has been elected to account executive for BTC Electronic Components, a value-added distributor specializing in commercial and military components and interconnect products. Hartman has more than 21 years experience in the electronics industry and will manage strategic commercial accounts with BTC.

Thales International North America has appointed Lawrence J. Cavaiola as president and chairman and CEO of Thales, Inc. Cavaiola will represent the Thales Group in the United States and Canada. Before raking the position at Thales, Cavaiola held senior positions in both industry and government in the United States. He was recently president of the Northrop Grumman Litton Ship Systems full service Center, as well as vice president for strategic and business development for Northrop Grumman's shipbuilding sector.

Thales also named Francios Gayet senior vice president of France Defence, part of the defence business area of Thales. Gayet also served as vice president in charge of strategy and business development for the detection of missile systems operating group for Thomson-CSF Airsystems.

Michael J. Hinsdale was promoted to president and CEO and a member of the board of directors of Barnes & Reinecke, Inc. He previously served as chief financial officer and director of business management.

Boeing Satellite Systems promoted Alexis Livanos to executive vice president and second-in-command. Livanos is responsible for managing the execution of the BSS business plan, including Spectrolab, Inc. and Boeing Electron Dynamic Devices subsidiaries. Livanos was formally senior vice president of operations for BSS.

Computer Sciences Corporation has added Rodney Chase to its board of directors. Chase, 58, is deputy group chief executive of BP p.l.c., the international energy company and one of the largest capitalized companies in the world. Chase has spent his 37-year career with BP. He has held posts within the upstream and downstream segments of the industry in Australia, Europe and North America.

Computer Sciences Corporation also has named Kevin Gaulin president of its application services division, a part of CSC's technology management group (TMG). Gaulin will be responsible for application outsourcing market strategies.
