INDUSTRY VETERAN WALTER GOODMAN RETIRES FROM HARMAN

WASHINGTON, July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Walter Goodman, president of the international division of Harman International, is retiring effective July 1, 1993.
"After nearly 50 uninterrupted years in this marvelous industry -- most of which time seems to have been `on the road,' I must find some serious time for my family, especially for my wife, for my children and for my grandchildren," he said.
"Harman International is a splendid company, an industry leader now embarked on a program of major new growth and development. It is the right time to make room for the next generation of leadership, and it is a good time for a new chapter for me."
"This action has been planned for some time and is culminating at the right moment for the company and for me. I am committed to active consulting for the Harman companies through December 1993. Thereafter, following a short vacation, I will be open to other engagements in the industry, consistent with my need for family time."
Dr. Sidney Harman, chairman of Harman International, said: "Walter Goodman is one of a kind. He is a unique combination of wide experience, personal wisdom and mature behavior. I appreciate his perception and applaud his judgment. I have no doubt that he will eventually provide much good counsel to other developing companies. Harman International continues to value that counsel."
