INDONESIA - Pertamina's Leadership.


Pertamina, for many years a scandal-ridden company, is led by a president-director who heads the company's six-member board of directors. This is parallelled by a state commission at the company checking on the management, headed by a chief commissioner.

These two figures and the board of directors are appointed by the president of the republic.

The President-Director is Widya Purnama, appointed to this post in August 2004 by then President Megawati Sukarnoputri Megawati Sukarnoputri (mĕg'əwä`tē skär'nōp  (Mega). In January 2005, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono General (ret.) Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (born September 9, 1949 in Pacitan, East Java, Indonesia), is an Indonesian retired military general and statesman as well as the sixth President of Indonesia.  appointed Martiono Hadianto as chief commissioner to replace Laksamana Sukardi.

Sukardi was a minister in Mega's administration which was ousted in last year's presidential elections. Hadianto served as Pertamina president-director from 1998 to 2000.

Widya Purnama: A CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Pertamina since August 2004, Widya was brought in by President Mega to succeed Ariffi Nawawi who was sacked after only a year on the job together with five of the board of director's members. A respected man, Widya previously was a senior executive in the telecommunications business.

Upon his appointment, Widya told a reporter he knew "zero" about petroleum or the energy business. But he said he was determined to learn within the first 100 days on the new job.

A person who is appointed or selected for a particular purpose; as the appointee under a power, is the person who is to receive the benefit of the trust or power.  to the top job which he had taken up in September 2003, had faced growing criticism over a slowdown in the restructuring of Permana ahead of a planned privatisation of the state company.

(A series of corruption scandals have plagued Pertamina under Ariffi's leadership. But stories of corruption in Pertamina date back to the early 1970s).

Widya Purnama was born on July 26, 1954 in Pare-Pare, South Sulawesi South Sulawesi is a province of Indonesia, located on the western southern peninsula of Sulawesi island. Mustiko Saleh: The Deputy President-Director & Deputy CEO, Mustiko's main task has been to help Widya steer Pertamina through its transformation from a state-owned monopoly to a publicly listed commercial enterprise.

Mustiko was born on June 19, 1947 in Pati. His educational background: oil engineering, Bandung Technology Institute (ITB); Career: secretary of Pertamina's board of commissioners; expert on Pertamina's Upstream Directorate

Hari Kustoro: The Corporate Sr Vice President, Upstream Business & Partnership, Hari is a prominent engineer. Like Widya, Mustiko and most other board members, he was appointed to the senior post in August 2004.

Hari born on Sept. 5, 1953 in Pontianak, West Kalimantan. His educational background: industrial engineering, Bandung Technology Institute (ITB); Economic Faculty, Indonesia University (UI). His previous position: senior manager, Production Management, Upstream Directorate, PT Pertamina.

Suroso Atmomartoyo: The Corporate Senior Vice President, Refining, Downstream Directorate, Suroso was born on Nov. 7, 1950 in Solo.

Ari H Soemarno: Corporate Senior Vice President, Soemarno is change of the Marketing and Trading Directorate. He was born on Dec. 14, 1948 in Yogyokarta.

His educational background: chemical engineer, Aachen University (Germany). His career: now president-director PETRAL, a Pertamina trading arm. Previously he was a staff at Pertamina's Downstream Directorate.

Suprijanto: Corporate Senior Vice President, General Affairs & Human Resources, Suprijanto was appointed to this position in August 2004 as in the case of all the above executives. He was born on Feb. 15, 1951.

His educational background: oil geology engineering degree, Bandung Technology Institute (ITB); Akamigas geology degree, Cepu; His career: senior manager, organization, system & quality - Development & Human Resources Directorate, PT Pertamina; senior manager, human resources - Development & Human Resources Directorate, PT Pertamina.

Alfred H. Rohimone: Corporate Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, Rahimone is the only person who has retained his membership of the company's board in August 2004 and remains in charge of the company's finances. He was born on Aug. 28, 1959, in the city of Surabaya.

Rohimone's educational background: a degree from the University of Texas, Austin - Texas, USA; Career: Corporate Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, Pertamina; Commissioner of Bank Central Asia Bank Central Asia (BCA) is an Indonesian bank founded on August 10 1955.

The Asian monetary crisis in 1997 had a tremendous impact on Indonesia’s entire banking system. In particular, it affected BCA’s cash flow and even threatened its survival.
