INDIGO SOFTWARE AND CONVEDIA PARTNER TO DELIVER PRESENCE ENABLED CONFERENCING SOLUTIONS FOR WIRELINE AND WIRELESS NETWORKS.Indigo 1. a blue dyeing material from various leguminous and other plants, being the aglycone of indican and also made synthetically; sometimes found in the sweat and urine. 2. a color between blue and violet, produced by energy of wavelengths between 420 and 450 nm. Software, a leader in real-time communications software development based on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), and Convedia Corporation, a leading provider of multi-protocol media servers, announced recently they have entered into a partnership that will deliver to service providers and enterprises the ability to make use of presence information in multimedia collaborative applications. Under the terms of the partnership agreement, Indigo and Convedia are working closely to ensure seamless support of Convedia's CMS-1000 and CMS-6000 Media Servers by the Indigo Presence Server SDK. Indigo's Java presence software toolkits and Convedia's SIP enabled media servers will be combined in order to support presence-based conferencing applications never before possible. One key feature of the united offerings will be automatic conference set-up as soon as all desired participants are available, as denoted by their "presence status." This is facilitated by a unique management of users' context information -- online status, availability to communicate, media capabilities, etc. -- achieved by the Indigo presence server along with the Indigo SIP proxy (Session Initiation Protocol proxy) A server in a SIP-based IP telephony environment. It is required in large companies with numerous telephone numbers or when the Internet is the long distance transport. The SIP proxy takes over call control from the terminals and serves as a central repository for address translation (name to IP address). The SIP proxy server provides similar functionality to a gatekeeper in an H. server. "Our support for prominent media servers such as the Convedia CMS-1000 and CMS-6000 underscores the value Indigo products bring to the market," said Edward Keegan, Head of Business Development EMEA, Indigo Software. "The combination of Indigo's applications and Convedia's media processing platform is a winning combination for developers of leading edge services." "Service providers and large enterprises must be able to combine best in class components from multiple vendors quickly and seamlessly if they are to take advantage of the power offered by next generation networks," said Grant Henderson, co-founder and EVP Marketing & Strategy, Convedia. "The Indigo/Convedia partnership delivers an integrated, fully tested solution that increases functionality, promotes new enhanced services, and offers presence-enabled conferencing at a reasonable price." |
