Santa Monica: Santa Monica College's ``Celebrate America,'' to include a variety of food vendors and live music. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. Santa Monica College's Corsair Field, 16th Street and Pico Boulevard. Admission is free, but donations are welcome; parking is $4. Sherman Oaks: Independence Day Luau Party is offering a Polynesian Show and Fire Dance, and a Traditional Hawaiian Dinner. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Horace Heidt Estates, 14155 Magnolia Blvd. Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance. No fireworks display. (818) 784-8211.

July 2

Los Angeles: ``L.A. Blues4U Festival 2000'' Fourth of July Blues Bash, with Joe Louis Walker & the Boss Talkers, Curtis Salgado Group, Shuggie Otis and more. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cal State Los Angeles, 5151 State University Drive. Woodland Hills: Steve Piazza's Fourth of July Fourth of July, Independence Day, or July Fourth, U.S. holiday, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Celebration of it began during the American Revolution. It has been the most important patriotic holiday ever since. Traditionally it has been celebrated with the firing of guns and fireworks, parades, open-air meetings, and patriotic speeches. Concert. Concert begins at 5 p.m., Lou Bredlow Pavilion at Warner Center Park, 5800 Topanga Canyon Blvd. Admission is free. No fireworks display. (818) 704-1587.

July 2, 3 and 4

Hollywood: Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular with John Mauceri and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N. Highland Ave. Tickets start at $5. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. (213) 480-3232 or (323) 850-2000.

July 3

Moorpark: A ``Fireworks Extravaganza'' complete with food, children's activities, live music and a parade. Festivities begin at 4 p.m. Arroyo Vista Recreation Center, 799 Moorpark Ave. Admission is $1, under age 5, free. Fireworks at dark. (805) 531-9100.

July 3 and 4

Ojai: ``Fourth of July Concert and Fireworks Show,'' will include a local variety show at Libbey Bowl featuring the Nordhoff Jazz Band, vocalists and musicians, July 3. Free. July 4 activities begin at 6 a.m. and offer a Lions Club Breakfast at Chaparral Auditorium, a Youth Freedom Run ($1 donation), a parade, picnic and fireworks/concert. Gates open at 5 p.m.. Adults $6, children $2. Fireworks display at 9:15 p.m (805) 649-2729.

July 4

Agoura Hills: ``A Day in the Park'' will include game booths, handicrafts and magic show. The day begins at 10:45 a.m. with a tiny-tot parade. Chumash Park, 5550 Medea Valley Drive. Admission is free. No fireworks display. (818) 597-7361.

Beverly Hills: ``Fun on the Fourth of July Family Celebration,'' an old-fashioned country-style picnic, carnival games, a petting zoo, a Dixieland band and more. The fun begins at 11:30 a.m. Roxbury Park, 471 S. Roxbury Drive and the Civic Center Plaza, 9351 Civic Center Drive. Admission is free. No fireworks display. (310) 550-4796.

Calabasas: ``Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular'' offers live music, food, and fun for the whole family. Doors will open at 7 p.m. The event will be held at Calabasas High School, 22855 Mulholland Hwy. Tickets are $6, under age 2 free; can be purchased at Calabasas City Hall, Chamber of Commerce, Tennis & Swim Center, De Anza Park and Creekside Park. Fireworks at 9 p.m. (818) 880-6461.

Camarillo: The Ghost Squadron of the CAF, Southern California Wing Aviation Museum will hold an Open House in conjunction with Camarillo Airport's fireworks display. The museum will open its doors at 10 a.m. Take the Ventura Freeway (101) to the Las Posas exit, south to Pleasant Valley Road, right to Eubanks Street, right on Eubanks Street four blocks to the museum at Aviation Drive. Fireworks at dusk. (805) 482-0064.

Channel Islands Harbor: ``Fireworks by the Sea'' will include entertainment on Fisherman's Wharf and harbor tours 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The round-trip cost is $3. Free tours of the tall ship Pilgrim of Newport will be offered 9 a.m. to noon through July 6. Fireworks to begin at dusk. (805) 985-4852.

Irvine: ``Songs of Freedom'' Independence Day Celebration, picnic on the amphitheater grounds then head inside for the sounds of the Pacific Symphony Orchestra and vocal group Beachfront Property. Concert begins at 8 p.m. Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, Irvine. Ticket prices start at $15; half-price for students/seniors. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. (714) 755-5799.

Lake View Terrace: Hansen Dam's July Fourth Celebration will offer food and free swimming for children. Entertainment will begin at 1 p.m. at Hansen Dam, corner of Foothill Boulevard and Osborne Street. Fireworks at dusk. (818) 768-3708.

Newbury Park: ``All You Can Eat'' Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, fresh fruit and karaoke. The event will begin at 8 a.m. at the Borchard Community Center, 190 Reino Road. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and children 6 and older, $2 for seniors and children 3-5, under age 2 free. Northridge: ``Valley of the Stars and Stripes Fireworks Spectacular'' is a family celebration complete with a carnival, food and live entertainment. The event will be held at the north campus at Cal State Northridge. Gates open at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8, ages 5-11 and seniors $5; and can be purchased in advance at Northridge Pharmacy, Panorama Mall, Bank of Granada Hills and other locations. Fireworks at 9 p.m. (818) 368-3235.

Northridge: Fourth of July Spectacular, food vendors will include Krispy Kreme, Ameci Pizza and more, free kids' activities, a musical production at 5, 6, 7 and 8 p.m. Admission is free. Simi Valley: ``Old-Fashioned Family Fourth of July,'' with presidential look-alikes, a pie-eating contest, a concert by the LAPD Concert Band, free museum admission and more. The celebration begins at 10 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m. Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, 40 Presidential Drive. Admission is free. No fireworks display. (800) 410-8354.

Simi Valley: The Rotary Club's ``The Spirit of America'' will have music, dancing, skydivers, arts & crafts, and a variety of food. The event will be held at Simi Valley High School stadium. Studio City: ``Fourth of July Picnic, Music Fest & Fireworks,'' tour the CBS studio lot, games and dancing. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. CBS Studio Center, 4024 Radford Ave. Adults $10, ages 6-12 $5, under 5 free. Fireworks begin at after dark. (818) 655-5916.

Thousand Oaks: ``Fireworks Spectacular 2000'' sponsored by the Conejo Recreation and Park District and the city of Thousand Oaks, behind the old Civic Center on Hillcrest Drive. Best viewing is from The Oaks shopping center parking lot. Free. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. (805) 381-2747.

Thousand Oaks: The Conejo Pops Orchestra will perform at 5 p.m. as part of the Summer Concerts in the Park Series at Conejo Community Park, Dover and Hendrix Avenues. Free. No fireworks display. (805) 495-6471.

Tujunga: Rotary Club's Fourth of July Parade on Foothill Boulevard at Mount Gleason at 10 a.m. The opening of a time capsule buried eight years ago will be accompanied by games, live bands, food and more. The event will take place at 12:30 p.m. at 8640 Fenwick, Sunland. Gates open at 6 p.m. at Verdugo Hills High School football field, 10625 Plainview St. Fireworks will be held at nightfall. Valencia: ``Strictly USA'' is a family celebration of American proportions complete with picnic, parade and fun for the entire family. Park opens at 10 a.m. Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia. General admission $40.99; seniors and those under 48 inches; under 2, free. Fireworks to begin at dusk. For more information, call (818) 367-5965 or (661) 255-4111.

Ventura: The Pushem-Pullem Children's Parade will head down Main Street at 10:30 a.m. A street fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Ventura College athletic field, free. Tickets for fireworks display are $8, children 4-12 $5, under age 3 free. Gates open at 5 p.m. for fireworks at 9 p.m. (805) 654-7850.

Westlake Village: The Westlake Yacht Club will sponsor an electric boat relay race at 10:30 a.m., the annual Round the Island sailboat race at 12:30 p.m. and decorated boat parade at 4 p.m. Free. No fireworks display. (818) 889-4820.
