INALFA HOLLANDIA SETS INDUSTRY FIRST WITH JEEP(R)
 GRAND CHEROKEE SUNROOF CONTRACT
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Inalfa Hollandia, Inc., has been awarded a contract to provide electric-sliding sunroofs for the 1993 Chrysler Jeep(R) Grand Cherokee. This model is the first North American-produced sport/utility vehicle to offer a factory- installed, electric-sliding sunroof, according to Joseph R. Corace, president and chief executive officer of Inalfa Hollandia.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee sunroof option, which will be available to consumers beginning in January 1993, leads an emerging trend of factory- installed, electric-sliding sunroofs in the sport/utility segment, according to Corace.
"Sport/utility vehicles are increasing in appeal to the baby-boom generation," Corace said. "The electric sunroof option also appeals to this generation because it adds luxury, sportiness and is reminiscent of the open-air feeling of the convertibles of their youth."
The Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is assembled at Chrysler's Jefferson North Assembly Plant, will feature IHI's tilt-vent-slide sunroof design which retracts under the roof panel with minimal loss of headroom. The frame is reinforced from front to back, providing the sunroof added durability in rugged off-road driving conditions.
"Chrysler has always been a leader in sport utility vehicle styling and design," Corace said. "The adoption of the electric-sliding sunroof for sport/utility vehicles echoes that tradition of leadership. We think the sunroof will also offer this exciting product yet another selling advantage."
Based in Farmington Hills, Inalfa Hollandia, Inc., has been manufacturing OEM electric-sliding sunroofs at its state-of-the-art production facility since 1989. These sunroofs, which can be installed in less than one minute, are designed to meet the unique style and engineering specifications of various car models.
A leading supplier of sunroofs to the North American automobile industry, Inalfa Hollandia currently has the single largest domestic OEM sunroof contract in North America. Founded in 1985, the company is a joint venture between Inalfa B.V. and Vermeulen Hollandia B.V., both of the Netherlands, which combined have more than 180 years of coach- building experience.
