IN MEMORIAM.JAMES M. BRIDGE, a former president of the St. Louis Chapter, recently died at the age of 65. Mr. Bridge retired as manager of the Union Electric Company tax department in 1997, after 44 years with the company. He earned an accounting degree from St. Louis University School of Commerce and Finance and a J.D. degree from St. Louis University School of Law. Mr. Bridge joined TEI in 1972, and served as the St. Louis Chapter's representative to the Institute Board of Directors from 1992-1994. JOSEPH K. CHEN Chen - Peter Chen , a member of the San Francisco Chapter, passed away at the age of 50. He was European Tax Director for Levi Strauss & Co. Before joining Levi Strauss in 1985, Mr. Chen spent 12 years with the Internal Revenue Service. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California The University of California has a combined student body of more than 191,000 students, over 1,340,000 living alumni, and a combined systemwide and campus endowment of just over $7.3 billion (8th largest in the United States). at Irvine, his M.B.A. degree from Golden Gate University, and his J.D. degree from San Francisco Law School The Law School's alumni include late California Governor Edmund "Pat" Brown ('27). San Francisco Law School has been approved by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California since 1937, but does not have or currently seek accreditation by the American Bar . Mr. Chen joined TEI in 1989. MARGARET M. FRANK, a charter member of the Salt Lake City Chapter, has died at the age of 49. She was Senior Corporate Counsel for Questar Corporation, where she was employed since 1980. Ms. Frank earned her B.A. degree from the University of Wyoming UW is a national research university prominent in the fields of environment and natural resource research, specializing in agriculture, energy, geology, and water resource related fields. and her J.D. degree from the University of Utah The University of Utah (also The U or the U of U or the UU), located in Salt Lake City, is the flagship public research university in the state of Utah, and one of 10 institutions that make up the Utah System of Higher Education. . She joined TEI in 1990. RONALD RONALD Rocketborne Optical Neutral gas Analyzer with Laser Diodes D. KING, a member of the New England Chapter, passed away at the age of 47. He was Director-Taxes for EG&G, Inc. Prior to joining EG&G in 1984, Mr. King spent five years with Standex International Corp. and six years as a field agent with the Internal Revenue Service. He earned his B.S. and B.A. degrees from the University of Lowell and his master's degree in taxation from Bentley College. Mr. King joined TEI in 1993. DAVID David, in the Bible David, d. c.970 B.C., king of ancient Israel (c.1010–970 B.C.), successor of Saul. The Book of First Samuel introduces him as the youngest of eight sons who is anointed king by Samuel to replace Saul, who had been deemed a failure. M. SEIDLER, a member of the New Jersey Chapter, died at the age of 51. He was Manager, Tax Compliance for MAERSK, Inc. Before joining MAERSK in 1991, Mr. Seidler was Manager of Tax Operations for Avnet, Inc. and a federal tax specialist for Hertz Corporation. He earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Rutgers University. Mr. Seidler joined TEI in 1995 and served as chair of the chapter's Audit Committee. |
