VALLEY INDEX FALLS: Shares of most companies in the Daily News Index were lower Tuesday, led by Xircom Inc. of Thousand Oaks, which fell $7.90625 to $53.5625. Of the 50 largest companies in the region, 41 were lower, seven eked out gains and two were unchanged.

DISNEY GAINS: Shares of Walt Disney Co. gained 5 percent Tuesday after Dean Witter Morgan Stanley analyst Richard Bilotti raised his investment rating on the Burbank-based entertainment company to ``outperform'' from ``neutral.'' Shares of Disney gain $1.0625 to $31.4375.

NEW ORDERS: Superior Industries International Inc. announced Tuesday that it won orders for aluminum road wheels from DaimlerChrysler Corp. The contracts' terms were not disclosed, but Superior Industries said the orders are in addition to the more than $300 million in new and replacement OEM aluminum wheel contracts announced in recent months. The Van Nuys company supplies aluminum wheels and other aluminum components to Ford, General Motors, DaimlerChrysler, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Rover, Toyota, Mazda, Nissan and Isuzu.

PAKISTAN PLANT: Calabasas-based NetSol International Inc. said it has started construction on the first phase of a technology campus in Lahore, Pakistan. About 600 engineers, programmers and others will work at the facility, scheduled to be completed by mid-2000. Lahore is Pakistan's second largest city. NetSol picked the site because of its long-term benefits and the return on the investment. The campus will eventually employee 3,000 people.

BORAX DEAL: Borax Flame Retardant Group, a division of Valencia-based U.S. Borax, Inc., announced Tuesday that it has signed a joint development agreement with Virginia-based Albemarle Corp. to develop flame retardant technologies. Borax officials said the agreement would aid in the development of halogen and halogen-free flame retardant systems for polymer companies worldwide.
