VALLEY INDEX JUMPS: The Daily News/Bloomberg Index rose 1.68 to 139.98, led by Sylmar's MiniMed Inc. and Camarillo's Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. Vitesse rose $1.6875 to $44.75.

Stock of MiniMed jumped $4.375 to $110 for its 12th record high in the past 15 sessions dating back to Dec. 8 when it closed at $75.125. That represents a 47 percent gain as investors became bullish Bullish
