Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, homes increased at their fastest rates of the decade during July, a real estate information service said Friday. In the six-county area a total of 29,303 houses and condos sold, up 31.4 percent from July 1997, said Acxiom Corp.'s DataQuick Products Division. The July sales count was the highest since October 1989 when 29,653 homes were sold. The year-over-year increase was the highest since January 1989 when sales increased 36.0 percent to 20,656. Film Roman stock was unchanged at $1.375. - Daily News RANCH SALE: Lebec-based Tejon Ranch Tejon Ranch Company is the largest private landowner in California. It was incorporated in 1936 to organise the ownership of a large tract of land originally comprised of four Mexican land grants, and began ranching in the 1840's. Co. has agreed to sell a 1,415-acre parcel to Northrop Grumman Corp. for $4.25 million. Northrop has leased the site, which is used as a radar test range, from Tejon Ranch since 1980.
