ACTON COMPANY GOES PUBLIC: Omega Orthodontics orthodontics: see dentistry.  Inc., an Acton-based management outsourcing firm for orthodontic orthodontic (ôr´thdän´tik),

 practices, raised $10.8 million in an initial public offering Tuesday. The company, which will trade on the Nasdaq exchange under the symbol ORTH ORTH Orthodox (German) , sold 1.8 million shares at $6 each.

BANK BRANCH SOLD: Burbank-based Highland Federal Bank said Tuesday that it has sold its Woodland Hills branch to Huntington Beach-based First Bank and Trust of California. The sale is Highland's fourth this year.

FREDERICK'S UNDER COVER: Chicago-based Knightsbridge Capital Corp. completed its purchase of Frederick's of Hollywood Frederick's of Hollywood is a well known retailer of lingerie in the United States, with stores in many modern shopping malls across the USA.

The business was started by Frederick Mellinger (inventor of the push-up bra) in 1946.

PINKERTON'S BUYS CANADIAN COMPANY: Encino-based Pinkerton's Inc. announced Tuesday that it acquired Montreal-based General Electronic Surveillance Service Alarms Inc., which serves industrial and commercial clients. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Founded in 1974, G.E.S.S. provides security alarm systems, service and monitoring to businesses throughout the greater Montreal area.
