 Infotek reported Tuesday. October's number for the Bay Area was down 7.4 percent from a year ago, while Southern California's number was up 11.8 percent.

CHEESECAKE SELLS SHARES: The Cheesecake Factory sold 2 million shares at $27 each in a secondary offering valued at $54 million. Led by Nationsbanc Montgomery Securities, the sale raised $51.3 million for the Calabasas-based restaurant chain. The gross spread - the difference between the price given to the seller and the price at which the shares were sold - was $1.35 a share.
