VALLEY INDEX FALLS: The Daily News/Bloomberg Index fell 0.31 to 143.82, led by Chatsworth's MRV Communications Inc. and On Assignment Inc. of Calabasas. MRV fell 1 1/16 to 25-5/8. On Assignment fell -7/8 to 32.

GAUSS SOLD: The assets of Gauss Inc., a Sun Valley-based maker of high-speed tape duplicating equipment, has been acquired by Stockholm, Sweden-based M2 Engineering for an undisclosed cash amount, officials said. Gauss, which was acquired from Minneapolis-based Telex Communications Inc., has been renamed Gauss-M2 Corp. and will continue making its tape duplicating systems from Sun Valley. It also will manufacture M2's SQ1, touted as the world's smallest CD/DVD and CD-ROM finishing machine, and other systems.

PARCEL SOLD: A 21.44-acre parcel in northeast Calabasas has been sold to R.W.R. Construction, an Orange County developer, for $1.8 million. Eleven luxury home sites are planned for the parcel owned by Mureau Estates Partners. Mark Thomas of Ventura-based Thomas Associates represented the seller.

SUPERIOR MOVE: Superior Bankcard Service of Golden Gate, the leading independent sales office for Superior Bankcard Service, has moved to a new location that is more than triple the size of its prior space. The new address is 15545 Devonshire St., Suite 200, Mission Hills. The approximately 2,500-square-foot office houses the 47 members of the company's sales and marketing staff. Superior Bankcard Service processes consumer credit and debit transactions.
