VALLEY INDEX FALLS: Stocks in the Daily News/Bloomberg Index fell 0.70 to 132, led by Brilliant Digital Entertainnment and Litton Industries Inc., both of Woodland Hills. Brilliant fell 2-7/8 to 3 3/16. Litton fell 1 -3/8 to 58-5/8.

HOTELS SOLD: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Trust, a Phoenix-based real estate investment trust, has sold its interests in three Vagabond Inns in Woodland Hills, Rosemead and Sacramento for $7.7 million to Vagabond Hotels Inc., which leases the properties. Starwood says it sold the Vagabonds to focus on the upscale market.

RESTAURANT EXECUTIVE: Burbank-based dick clark productions inc. has named industry veteran Michael F. Hoffer as president and chief operating officer of its nine-outlet chain of American Bandstand Grill restaurants. Hoffer was regional vice president for the Midwest of Bennigan's, which includes 40 restaurants in 11 states.

FOX COMMITS: 20th Century Fox has agreed to launch its first product in the Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) format using the controversial Divx pay-per-view version. Fox, which had been the final holdout among major studios, joined Disney, Paramount, Universal and DreamWorks in support of Divx, which is two-thirds owned by retailer Circuit City and is expected to start releasing titles this summer.

PROMENADE ADDS STORE: Home furnishings retailer Z Gallerie plans to open a store June 1 in The Promenade in Woodland Hills, the retailer's only store in the San Fernando Valley.
