MINER BUYS SOCAL GOLD MINE: Nevada Manhattan Mining Inc. of Calabasas signed a preliminary agreement to buy the Morning Star Gold Mine in San Bernardino from Vanderbilt Gold Corp. Terms of the deal will be disclosed after a due diligence report. The mine has probable reserves of more than 300,000 ounces of gold. Nevada Manhattan expects to start mining and processing the gold in 1998 at a rate of 25,000 ounces a year.

MINIMED BUYS FLORIDA COMPANY: MiniMed Inc., a Sylmar-based maker of insulin infusion pumps for diabetics, said Monday that it will buy Home Medical Supply Inc., a Florida-based medical products distribution firm for $16 million.
