As water meters age, consumption registration accuracy is lost due to normal wear within the meter. For this reason the Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities has decided to begin replacing those aging meters. The new meters will help the City recapture recapture n. in income tax, the requirement that the taxpayer pay the amount of tax savings from past years due to accelerated depreciation or deferred capital gains upon sale of property.
