IMS America President Tommy Bohman said: "We are extremely pleased to become the primary supplier of information to these two significant pharmaceutical firms. Today's news, coming on the heels of a major new IMS contract with Merck & Co. Inc. announced in late August, make 1994 the best new business period for IMS America in recent history." Bohman noted that five of the top thirty pharmaceutical companies have decided to switch to IMS America as their primary vendor in the past year. IMS is now the primary vendor to 24 of the 35 largest pharmaceutical companies (as measured by dollar sales) in the U.S. In addition, IMS announced that Sandoz has become the fourth customer signed for IMS' new, state-of-the-art decision support service, Xplorer. IMS anticipates the number of customers for the service will grow substantially in the next two months.
