IMRS INTRODUCES IMRS ONTRACK 2.0 WITH INTERACTIVE CAPABILITY (Product Announcement)

IMRS INTRODUCES IMRS ONTRACK 2.0 WITH INTERACTIVE CAPABILITY
STAMFORD, Conn., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- IMRS Inc. (NASDAQ: IMRS), the leading developer of network-based business information software, today announced an enhanced version of IMRS OnTrack, its Microsoft Windows-based executive information application designed specifically to operate on local area networks.
A major new module that will work with version 2.0 of IMRS OnTrack is Interactive/MC. This module provides live access to Micro Control, IMRS' market leading business and financial information database. By directly accessing Micro Control's time series database, Interactive/MC is able to retain the business and financial "intelligent" inherent in Micro Control and present it through a Microsoft Windows graphical user interface.
"The unprecedented and continued popularity of Microsoft Windows has created a critical need for corporate applications like IMRS OnTrack 2.0, which was developed for enterprise-wide use," said Gordon Rapkin, vice president, product development, at IMRS. "By accessing 'live' data, executives, managers, and analysts throughout a corporation can make decisions based on the most up-to-date information available."
Major features of version 2.0's data driven design and Interactive/MC include:
-- Intelligent Expansion of the multiple database dimensions,
which can be accessed directly from Micro Control at run
time. For example, years can be expanded to show quarterly
data and parent companies can be expanded to show dependent
 company data.
-- A Time Series Database Structure that automatically converts
information to various "time views" (monthly, quarterly,
year-to-date, etc.), which allows the user to see trends
and compare performance over time. High-speed access
eliminates the overhead of storing different data for
 each view.
-- Intelligent Investigation Through Data Drill-down.
When the user selects a number, the software "drills down"
to the next logical level of information to explain how
the number was derived. This can be customized or completely
 automated by the software.
-- Automated Organizational Structures that shows how components
are interconnected while providing easy navigation between
them. Changes made to the underlying source data are
automatically reflected in IMRS OnTrack. An organization
tree is built dynamically at run time.
-- Ad-hoc Trend Analysis and Graphical Displays that use the
underlying time series database to look at historical results
and project what needs to be done to reach a specific goal.
The report or chart can also be reduced to an icon and carried
from screen to screen for later comparison through the
 "Bookmark" feature.
-- Ad-hoc Charts that can use reports from any source to create
user- defined graphs in a variety of formats. IMRS OnTrack
2.0 supports both a built-in graphing package, as well as
linkage to Microsoft Excel and the Windows Dynamic Data
 Exchange (DDE) facility.
Companies around the world currently implement IMRS OnTrack for a variety of applications. One consumer products company uses it for strategic planning and integrates operational data into IMRS OnTrack to provide better corporate-wide information. A major hotel chain uses it to monitor occupancy statistics and identify trends in room utilization.
IMRS OnTrack version 2.0 and Interactive/MC are scheduled for release in the second quarter of 1992. IMRS OnTrack site licensing starts at $35,000. In addition to IMRS OnTrack, IMRS products include Micro Control, Hyperion, and Fastar, which consolidate and report financial and other business information; Treasury Control, which automates treasury information functions, such as foreign exchange and risk management; and FinalForm, used to design, implement, and control forms for detailed and consistent data collection. IMRS also offers installation, training, consulting, and support services.
