IMPACT OF GLOBALIZATION ON INVESTING TO BE DISCUSSED BY PAUL KENNEDY AT SCHWAB INSTITUTIONAL CONFERENCE

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Schwab Institutional, a division of Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., today announced that Paul Kennedy, Yale Professor, futurist and best selling author of "The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers" and "Preparing for the Twenty-first Century" will discuss trends towards globalization and their implications for investing at the third annual Schwab National Financial Advisors Conference for investment managers at The New York Hilton Towers at Rockefeller Center on Oct. 28 and 29.
One of Mr. Kennedy's central thesis is that, "Major trends towards globalization are evident in the areas of manufacturing, assembly and search for market share." In support of these initiatives, capital markets have been moving towards institutionalized trading 24 hours a day. The political, social and economic implications of these trends are relevant to stock market investors. For example, investors targeting emerging markets have concluded that the growth pattern of underdeveloped countries is more vibrant than that of richer nations. At the same time, the political instability of these entities requires a higher degree of risk tolerance. Those countries, industries and companies that have properly anticipated and integrated the major trends and implications of globalization are expected to have the most attractive return on investment over the long term.
The third annual Schwab National Financial Advisors Conference for investment managers is targeted at institutional investors who manage the money of individuals and institutions throughout the United States.
