IMM RESPONDS TO WALL STREET JOURNAL ARTICLE: 'GM HUGHES TO BRING PHONES

TO TATARSTAN'; IMM EXPECTS TO RECEIVE PRODUCT-BASED ROYALTY REVENUE
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- In a response to today's Wall Street Journal article "GM Hughes to Bring Phones to Tatarstan," International Mobile Machines Corporation (AMEX: IMM) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer William J. Hilsman said:
"We are extremely pleased that GM Hughes has brought this contract to fruition and has sold their first GMH 2000 system into the Wireless Digital Access markets. We are proud of IMM's engineering team that has worked closely with GM Hughes over the past two years in developing this product. More importantly, from the IMM standpoint, we are elated that our revenue stream will now benefit from the royalties we will receive as the GMH 2000 TDMA products enter the marketplace. To date, revenues in IMM's patent licensing business have been up-front royalty payments to secure the license."
This revenue/royalty license agreement, which was announced in March 1992, represents the second royalty-bearing license agreement between IMM and HNS. Hughes' products and IMM's products are now complementary in the marketplace. Hughes has targeted its system to serve large metropolitan areas and cellular-like markets, whereas IMM will serve the vast rural areas of the world.
