IMM PRESIDENT DEPARTS, CONCLUDING THREE YEARS OF VALUED SERVICE
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- International Mobile Machines Corporation (AMEX: IMM) today announced that Richard W. Pryor, president and chief operating officer, has resigned his position as an officer and director of IMM in order to pursue other interests.
"Dick Pryor came to IMM some three years ago as we were moving from a research and development company towards an operating company," said William J. Hilsman, chairman and chief executive officer of IMM. "His mission was to build a team who could take the company into the international marketplace, produce revenues and get to profitability. When Dick Pryor arrived, IMM's revenues were $4 million and losses were $21 million. He guided the company's operations from $18.5 million of revenue in 1990 to $33.8 million of revenue in 1991, and into 1992 with revenues of $7.1 million for the first quarter and an order backlog of $31 million. Dick Pryor's expertise has been to accomplish this for other companies, as he has done for us. We wish him the very best in his new endeavors, and we are sure he will succeed at these as well." Hilsman said.
"The departure of key individuals and close personal friends from the IMM team, as hard as it is personally, is what is right for the corporation at this time. Different people and different talents are needed at various phases in the growth of any organization. IMM is now in the phase of manufacturing and selling products in the worldwide marketplace, and is beginning to acquire and operate telephone companies, and is licensing our intellectual property. The team that Dick Pryor assembled and worked with will now take the lead in continuing IMM's growth and move toward profitability," Hilsman said.
He concluded, "Jim Bracknell, as general manager of IMM's Ultraphone business unit, has the job of getting IMM to profitability and expanding its sales and margins. Jim is a demonstrated performer, and knows how to do this job. Buddy Langley is one of the most well-respected telephony executives in the country and is building the Universal Service Telephone Corporation into a world-class telephone company. IMM's management team is experienced and well known in the industry. We wish Dick Pryor the very best. We hope to continue our friendship with Dick on both a business and personal level. He has been, and will always be, a part of our family."
Pryor, in announcing his resignation to the board of directors, said, "There was one major reason for my accepting the IMM offer in the summer of 1989, the opportunity to help create a new industry -- digital wireless radio. I leave the company with IMM having a significant portion of the U.S. market share in this new business, and a rapidly growing presence internationally. The experience was exhilarating and rewarding. IMM is a great company, in the right place, at the right time with the best product in the world."
