IMM'S ULTRAPHONE SYSTEM IS OPERATIONAL IN CHINA AND UKRAINE
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- International Mobile Machines Corporation (NASDAQ: IMMC) announced today that it has an Ultraphone 200 Transportable digital radiotelephone system operational with the Yalta Telephone Company in Yalta, Crimea in Ukraine, and another Ultraphone 200 Transportable digital radiotelephone system operational in Beijing, China.
The Ultraphone 200 Transportable System operating with the Yalta Telephone Company in the city of Yalta in Crimea was demonstrated last week to the ministers and personnel from all of the former Republics of the Soviet Union, and continues to operate in Ukraine as part of the approval process necessary for the Ultraphone certification by the government for sale throughout the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Jim Bracknell, president of IMM's Wireless Digital Access Corporation, said, "We had outstanding participation from the representatives of all of the former republics of the Soviet Union, and are extremely pleased that the Yalta Telephone Company agreed to participate in the certification process for Ultraphone throughout the CIS. We expect this certification process to be completed within the next 60 days, after which we should be in a favorable position to accept orders for our products throughout the CIS. This agreement for product certification is a part of a larger agreement we have in place throughout that region."
Commenting from Beijing, Brian Kiernan, president of IMM's World Trade Corporation, said, "We have had every key minister of the Chinese government with us during the past two weeks, talking on the Ultraphone system and developing their requirements for future Ultraphone sales throughout China."
The Ultraphone system operating in China was purchased by IMM's partner in Hong Kong and China, the KTT Group, and is undergoing its initial certification in China today. "We expect China to be a very large market for us, and are extremely pleased with our KTT partnership," said Kiernan.
William J. Hilsman, chairman and chief executive officer of IMM, said, "We now have the international product that can bring wireless telephony quickly to individuals and businesses throughout the world. Our large programs in Mexico and Indonesia are just the beginning for the Ultraphone system in the international marketplace."
