The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president. , resigned effective Sept. 23, 2003, to pursue other interests. Ferguson joined IMC in March 2002 after working at Solutia and Monsanto. The company stated that it has no current plans to fill the chief operating officer role and that the Phosphate and Potash operating units will report directly to Douglas Pertz, chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. , as they did prior to Ferguson joining the company.
