IMAGING FIRM GOING TO SYNCOR.

Syncor International Corp. said Wednesday that it has agreed to pay $16.8 million for the medical-imaging business of Thousand Oaks-based National Diagnostic Services diagnostic services,

 operates medical-imaging centers in California and Kansas to which hospitals and other health care centers send patients for magnetic resonance magnetic resonance, in physics and chemistry, phenomenon produced by simultaneously applying a steady magnetic field and electromagnetic radiation (usually radio waves) to a sample of atoms and then adjusting the frequency of the radiation and the strength of the  and other forms of medical imaging.

As part of the acquisition, Syncor will get four such centers, which the company said should generate $9 million in revenue for it in 1998. Syncor had $422 million in revenue in 1996, the most recent annual results available.

Syncor is paying $12 million cash and assuming $4.8 million worth of NDS debt for the purchase.
