ILLINOIS POWER COMPANY SELECTS SYNERCOM WORK MANAGEMENT SOLUTION

HOUSTON, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Synercom Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: SYNR) has been awarded a contract to provide WMIS, Synercom's work management information system, to Illinois Power Company as part of ARM, the Area Resource Management system.
This project is supported by a joint teaming agreement between Synercom and Intergraph Corporation, the project prime contractor. ARM combines both automated mapping and facilities management capabilities with work management in an integrated solution. In the first phase of the project, Intergraph will provide its hardware and FRAMME software to address the AM/FM requirements, while Synercom, as the work management subcontractor, will provide the WMIS software for the work management activities.
The ARM solution addresses the process of work request entry, design and engineering, construction and accounting for planned work orders within Illinois Power's Gas and Electric operations. By tracking and analyzing the required information and distributing it across the enterprise, WMIS increases the efficiency, accuracy and speed of work request operations and reduces their cost.
According to Larry Brodsky, vice president of Illinois Power, "The ARM project offers us the opportunity to combine the work management and AM/FM systems into one cohesive and integrated solution that will improve the ability to make, track and meet customer commitments. The creative teaming agreement between Intergraph and Synercom will allow us to cost effectively and quickly move forward." The ARM project will span five to seven years and be deployed across the entire service area. Illinois Power is a combined gas and electric utility with 4,100 employees who serve approximately 400,000 gas and nearly 600,000 electric customers in a 15,000-square-mile area of Illinois.
Synercom's president and CEO David Stewart states that, "The ARM project is a strategic milestone. It confirms that significant cost and time savings are available to the utility industry by creative vendor partnerships and blending technologies for the benefit of our clients." Stewart adds that, "WMIS is the premier work management product operating in a client/server environment. It provides a key building block for a successful ARM project."
Synercom provides foundation technologies for spatial solutions that manage geographically dispersed assets and related information for major utilities and municipalities worldwide. By creating client-unique applications and integrating them with these foundation technologies, Synercom increases the efficiency, accuracy and cost-effectiveness of client activities that utilize spatial information. Synercom's common stock is traded on the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol SYNR.
