ILC Technology announces senior management promotions.


SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 1996--ILC Technology Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:ILCT) Monday announced the promotion of several senior management personnel including; Bert Smith, 48, to the position of vice president of operations, John A. Lucero, 47, to vice president of marketing and sales and Felix J. Schuda, 48, to vice president - chief technical officer.

All promotions are effective immediately.

Smith's responsibilities will include all of the operations of the company's Sunnyvale facility and Converter Power Inc., an ILC ILC International Law Commission (United Nations)

ILC Industrial Loan Company
ILC International Land Coalition
 subsidiary, where he was named president in February 1996. He began his career at ILC Technology in November 1993 as a consultant focusing on continuous improvement, on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.

Lucero's new position will include global responsibilities for the company's marketing and sales activities. He joined ILC in 1994 as director of sales. He brings to the position extensive experience in marketing and sales, product development and manufacturing with a broad background in optics, acousto optics, electro optics and laser system integration.

His previous employment experience includes management positions in marketing and operations with Crystal Technology Inc. (a Siemens company) (1991-1994) and (1984-1988), Coherent Laser Group (1988-1991) and Xerox Corp. (1973-1984).

Schuda has been a vice president of the company since 1981. As vice president - chief technical officer, he will be responsible for developing ILC's technology roadmap for the future. He has been employed by the company in various engineering and management positions since 1976.

Previously he was employed by Spectra-Physics Inc. Schuda received a B.S. degree in physics from the University of Pittsburgh and a Ph.D. in optics from the University of Rochester The University of Rochester (UR) is a private, coeducational and nonsectarian research university located in Rochester, New York. The university is one of 62 elected members of the Association of American Universities. .

Founded in 1967, ILC Technology designs and manufacturers high performance lamps and lighting systems for the medical, industrial, communications, entertainment, aerospace and semiconductor markets. Subsidiary companies include Precision Lamp Inc., Converter Power Inc. and ILC/Q-arc, Ltd.
