IKOS appoints European director to spearhead next expansion phase; appointment bolsters company's effort to achieve worldwide market leadership in high-end mixed-level design verification.

CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 31, 1995--IKOS Systems today announced the appointment of Anthony (Tony) Boylan, 41, to the position of European Director, filling a previously open position.

Residing in the UK, Boylan will report to John Stressing, IKOS' Vice President of International Sales. Stressing, who held this position prior to his promotion to Vice President in 1994, will relocate to the company's headquarters in Cupertino.

Boylan, who most recently served as North European Manager for Zycad Corporation, will lead IKOS' European sales organization which includes direct sales in Germany, the UK, and France, as well as a distributor network through Europe. He is responsible for developing sales strategies to leverage the growth achieved in the past two years under the company's European business plan.

Boylan brings more than 15 years of experience in the electronics industry. Prior to his Zycad experience, he served as North European Business Manager for GenRad (UK) in the Design Automation Products division. Boylan began his career at B & F as a test engineer and later as project engineer. He has a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Manchester University in the UK.

The appointment of a European Director was the concluding step in the initial phase of the company's European business plan. Boylan rounds out the European team and provides an infrastructure that is poised to begin the next phase of growth. Stressing will balance his efforts between Europe and Asia as he implements corporate strategies for expansion in the European and Asian EDA markets.

IKOS' international sales have increased from 21% of total revenue at the end of 1993 to 38% of total revenue at the end of the company's FY95 Q3. IKOS has begun an expansion plan for Asia and will implement the next phase of the European plan immediately. Both of these efforts are expected to enhance the company's international growth curve.
