IISRP holds annual meeting in China. (Meetings).

The International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers has completed the speakers' program for its 44th Annual General Meeting, to be held in Beijing, China, May 19-22. The theme of this meeting is "Elastomers ... innovation and forward vision."

Following two days of administrative business meetings, the General Session I will open on May 21 with a keynote address from Dr. Damian Cummins, deputy director of BASFYPC, where he will present BASF's experience in establishing a business in China.

Other Session I speakers will include Dr. Gunter Festel of A.D. Little Switzerland who will give an assessment of the elastomers industry "from the outside looking in." Gary Miller of Goodyear Tire and Rubber will provide a strategic overview of elastomer competition. Zhang Yong of Sinopec will speak on the rubber market and demand in China.

General Session II will feature David Whitman, director of worldwide purchasing at General Motors in Shang hai, who will deliver the opening address.

Dr. Qiao Jinliang of the Beijing Research Institute will speak on emerging nanoelastomer technology. Yang Jigang of PetroChina will speak on EPDM technology at Lanzhou Chemical Industry. James L. McGraw, managing director and CEO of the IISRP, will deliver his report to the membership.

This is the first time that the IISRP has conducted its Annual General Meeting in the People's Republic of China. The executive committee selected China because the region has a robust economic climate, according to McGraw.

The IISRP is an international not-for-profit trade association with 47 corporate members from 21 countries producing more than 90% of the world's supply of synthetic rubber.
