IIS announces Internet capabilities for Intellect 95 at 1997 AIIM show.

CARMEL, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 1997--A series of powerful new capabilities for Intellect 95, the highly regarded image-management software system developed by Integrated Information Services Inc. (IIS), will be demonstrated at the 1997 conference and trade show sponsored by the Association of Information and Image Management (AIIM).

The AIIM show will take place at The Jacob Javits Convention Center, April 15-17. Demonstrations of the new product capabilities will be conducted in Booth No. 2776 on the floor of the exhibition.

The company will debut a new feature that allows Intellect 95 users to create Hypertext Mark-Up Language (HTML) files for publishing documents on the World Wide Web. The HTML files contain direct links to the images contained in Intellect 95, so users can access the files on a remote basis and view their previously scanned and stored images across the Internet or a company intranet.

``The new software now built into Intellect 95 empowers users with a `triangle' of options for accessing and retrieving documents in a client database,'' said Tim Bird, president of IIS. ``These three options -- by full-text, by image and by an indexed database -- make it possible to perform all searching functions from any office or on a totally remote, on-line basis.''

Intellect 95 utilizes an open system architecture that makes it simple to electronically create, store, search, retrieve and display documents and other information. Operating on the user-friendly Microsoft Windows platform, the system integrates with almost any software environment and offers numerous file formats to enable multiple users on all documents.

In addition to the Internet capabilities, new applications to be announced at AIIM include the integration of a powerful full-text search engine and an optical character-recognition (OCR) capability to Intellect 95.

``The full-text search engine works by creating a full-text index and maintaining links to the image and field data in the database, providing a seamless integration of text, image and database,'' said Bird.

``Moreover, with the integration of OCR capabilities, users can turn a scanned image or set of results into a text document with a single mouse click. This is a powerful new feature that allows users to take advantage of OCR `on the fly' and avoids the inconvenience of booting up multiple applications.''

The cost for adding OCR capabilities to Intellect 95 is $250 per user. Significant price discounts are available for customers who wish to purchase the OCR option for multiple users.
