: IISX), a leading provider of secure integrated information solutions, today announced that IIS recently completed development of DiskSig Pro 3.1, a powerful cross validation tool for proving the accuracy of bit stream backups used in computer forensics. DiskSig Pro 3.1 is owned and marketed by Gresham, Ore.-based New Technologies Inc. ("NTI NTI NewTech Infosystems (software company, Irvine, California)
NTI Nuclear Threat Initiative
NTI National Transit Institute (New Brunswick, New Jersey)
NTI Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated
").

"Civil and criminal attorneys are growing increasingly more experienced in dealing with computer evidence issues," said NTI President Michael R. Anderson. "Attorneys are challenging the expertise of computer forensics specialists and the admissibility of computer-related evidence by accusing computer forensics of being a 'junk science.' IIS developed DiskSig Pro 3.1 with the SHA SHA - Secure Hash Algorithm 256 hashing algorithm which has been tested for accuracy by the National Institute of Standards and Technology National Institute of Standards and Technology, governmental agency within the U.S. Dept. of Commerce with the mission of "working with industry to develop and apply technology, measurements, and standards" in the national interest.  (NIST (National Institute of Standards & Technology, Washington, DC, www.nist.gov) The standards-defining agency of the U.S. government, formerly the National Bureau of Standards. It is one of three agencies that fall under the Technology Administration (www.technology. ). The new DiskSig Pro 3.1 is an outstanding weapon to counteract 'junk science' attacks and ensure the highest level of accuracy in the bit stream backup process. This powerful tool ties perfectly with our recent release of SafeBack, version 3.0, which is used to create 'evidence grade' bit stream backups of computer evidence," he added.

NTI was the first corporation to introduce computer forensics training and software to Fortune 500 corporations and Big 5 accounting firms in 1996. Since that time, NTI has also provided significant support to the U.S. military, U.S. intelligence agencies and law enforcement departments. The FBI, CIA CIA: see Central Intelligence Agency.
