A $350 million contract to provide components, instrumentation, control equipment, plus technical and engineering support to four new nuclear power stations to be built in the Republic of Korea has been awarded to Westinghouse Electric Company (Windsor, Conn.) by DOOSAN Heavy Industries and Construction (KOREA SE:34020.KS) (Seoul, Korea) and the Korea Power Engineering Company (KPEC). The plants will be owned and operated by KPEC subsidiary Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Company (KHNP), which is handling the overall project management of the project. At the end of 2001, KHNP was operating 16 nuclear plants with an availability factor of 92%.
