IGEL Technology Presents a New Thin Client Product Portfolio at Worlds Largest Computer Trade Fair CeBIT 2006.

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- IGEL Technology, one of the leading manufacturers of Linux- and Windows- based thin clients worldwide, is introducing a new Clever Client generation. The user-friendly Windows XPe is now available for the Compact- and Winestra-Series in addition to the Premium line.

The IGEL Smart-Series - the small IGEL for large tasks

With a maximum power consumption of 20 watts, the inexpensive IGEL Smart is the "Entry Level IGEL" among the range and functions exceedingly well in all system environments. The Smart model IGEL-1100 Legacy is IGEL Technology's inexpensive alternative to ASCII terminal environments and can thus provide investment protection in the Legacy environment. In addition, the IGEL-1100 has the capability of easy and inexpensive integration into existing Linux or Unix environments. The IGEL Smart is also offered as a 2100-LX and 2100-CE model on a Linux or Windows CE platform and is the ideal solution for those small and mid-sized companies that would like to phase out their old PC client architecture step by step.

IGEL Compact - an inexpensive thin client access solution with Windows XPe

The IGEL Compact is available with a Linux-based operating system (IGEL-3200 LX Compact), with Windows CE 5.0 (IGEL-3200 CE Compact), as well as Windows XPe. With the IGEL-3600 XP Compact, IGEL is making the well-known and flexible operating system available at a lower price point.

The new centerpiece of the IGEL Compact-Series is the VIA Eden CPU with 533 Mhz, which delivers efficient system performance. Three USB 2.0 ports, two PS/2 ports, one intergrated SmartCard reader and two serial and one parallel interfaces are included with the standard equipment. A special emphasis in the design of the RAM and Compact Flash memory was put on securing the investments for later updates and expansions. The standard equipment of all 3200 models includes 128 MB RAM (256 MB in all 3600 models) and has the option of being upgraded to 1024 MB. The Compact Flash memory size is 128 MB for the 3200 series and 256 MB for the 3600 series and can also be upgraded to 1 GB.

IGEL Winestra - the flexible all-round talent

The IGEL Winestra-Series is now also available with the user-friendly Windows XPe. Thanks to the 800 Mhz VIA C3 CPU and the exceedingly favorable cost/performance ratio, the Winestra-Series is the all-round talent in the IGEL portfolio. The IGEL-4200 Winestra LX, as well as the IGEL-4200 Winestra CE, are each available with 128 MB RAM, while the Winestra-4600 XP has 512 MB RAM. The Compact Flash memory is equally generous and, just like the RAM, has the option of being upgraded to 1 GB. In terms of interfaces, the Winestra-Series offers a PCI slot, two serial and one parallel interfaces, a SmartCard reader, audio in- and outputs, along with two USB and PS/2 ports each.

IGEL Premium - the high-end Clever Client

With the installation of a 1 GHz VIA C3 LP CPU, as well as the optimised and generously designed RAM in each model, the IGEL Premium-Series achieves an outstanding overall performance. Next to the analog VGA connection, this strong Clever Client also offers a DVI interface for the digital activation of TFT monitors and supports dual screen natively. Its interfaces include one PCI slot, a PCMCIA slot and four USB 2.0 ports, of which two are accessible from the front. Two serial and one parallel connections, two PS/2 ports and in- and output connections for audio signals are also included in the standard configuration.

Just like the IGEL Compact- and Winestra-Series, the IGEL Premium model series is equipped with a PC/SC compliant Smartcard reader. This also allows a quick and problem-free connection of this new Clever Client to a PKI or other certificate-based authentication solution. The secure server log-on thus ensures access to server-based applications and sensitive data.

At IGEL everything comes with central and inexpensive management software

Effective immediately, the advanced IGEL Remote Management Suite 2.0 enables the hierarchical distribution of various rights for administrators. This makes it multi-client capable and allows it to be implemented even more effectively in large IT infrastructures.

In addition to the latest protocols, such as ICA 9.0 and RDP 5.1, a PowerTerm terminal emulation is available in all devices to enable connections to older hosts (except the Smart 2100-LX and 2100-CE). Either Firefox (Linux) or Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (CE/XP) can be used as a local browser. The IGEL XPe models also provide Microsoft's Media Player. What stands out in particular, along with the excellent driver support for Windows XPe, is the simple local integration of small tools, such as VPN clients or plug-ins.
