IFR Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:IFRS IFRS International Financial Reporting Standard(s)
IFRS Inter Frame Relay Service
IFRS Indiana Facilities Registry System
) today announced that the IFR 1900-4 CSA (1) (Canadian Standards Association, Toronto, Ontario, www.csa.ca) A standards-defining organization founded in 1919. It is involved in many industries, including electronics, communications and information technology.  radio test system now fully supports the ANSI-136 Revision "A" standard as adopted by TIA/EIA.

With the ongoing evolution of the standard, IFR continues to demonstrate its commitment to the UWC UWC University of the Western Cape (RSA)
UWC University Writing Center
UWC United World Colleges (international college network)
UWC Ultimate Warrior Challenge
and the ANSI-136 industry with new performance enhancements. IFR leads the industry in providing advanced ANSI-136 protocol conformance testing Conformance testing or type testing is testing to determine whether a system meets some specified standard.

To aid in this, many test procedures and test setups have been developed, either by the standard's maintainers or external organizations, specifically for
capability. The firmware upgrade for all models of the 1900-4 is available immediately by contacting IFR.

With the release of the 1900-4 version 4.3 firmware upgrade, both mobile and base station developers and ANSI-136 protocol test engineers will be able to test their designs faster, easier and more completely with the new firmware. Users will now have support for new messages and protocol version information elements on the Forward and Reverse Digital Traffic Channels. They will also be able to monitor DCCH and DTC DTC

messages and information directly from the Special Test function available through the front panel.

A new and exclusive feature of the 1900-4 allows users to capture and save all FBCCH and EBCCH information on a DCCH directly from an existing channel. This new capability provides system operators and engineers with the ability to monitor a Digital Control Channel directly off the air and capture that information directly to the 1900-4 and retrieve it later for further analysis.

About the IFR 1900-4 Digital Cellular/PCS RadioTest System

The IFR 1900-4 Digital Cellular/PCS Radio Test System is the industry-accepted simulator for comprehensive ANSI-136 cellular/PCS handset and base station protocol conformance testing. It has full-band capability from 100Mhz to 2GHz and includes test capability for critical adjacent power measurements. Additionally, low power measurement capability (down to -60 dBm) allows the user to test a base station without taking it off line. The 1900-4 has the flexibility to perform both mobile and base station RF parametric, messaging and protocol conformance testing. The 1900-4 includes VSLEP and ACELP ACELP Algebraic Code-Excited Linear Prediction

functions, allowing verification of voice quality. The test system also offers as standard a constellation IQ display for quick assessment of digital mobile or base station transmitter modulation accuracy.

About the 1900-4, ver. 4.3 Firmware Enhancements for ANSI-136

Testing

Included in the 1900-4 version 4.3 firmware upgrade are the following features:
-- Protocol Version 1, 2, 3 TMAC support on all new messages and information
elements of TIA/EIA-136 rev. A.

-- Protocol Version 1, 2, 3 support on "Special Test" DCCH and DTC monitor
screens for all new messages and information elements.

-- Ability to monitor all messages and information elements of the FBCCH and
EBCCH on the Forward Digital Control Channel and record/save data into a flash
file on the 1900-4.

-- Added ability to decode interrupted ARQ messages on the SPACH, corresponding
to Protocol Conformance tests 9.5 and 9.7.

-- Enhanced operation of the 1900-4 when decoding/monitoring DCCH and DTC
channels with very low signal strengths.

Pricing and Availability

The U.S. list price for the 1900-4 version 4.3 Digital Cellular/PCS Radio Test System is $54,995. It is available immediately upon receipt of order. The version 4.3 firmware upgrade is also available immediately from IFR for current owners of 1900-4 systems. Contact your local sales office to upgrade an existing instrument.
