IFC Films Tribute Begins Friday at BAM Rose Cinemas





On Friday, Brooklyn’s BAM Bam (bäm), town (1996 pop. 70,100), Kerman prov., SE Iran, on the intermittent Bam River. Located on the western edge of the Dasht-e Lut, Bam is a trade center in a henna-growing region. Dates and other fruits are also grown; camels are raised.  Rose Cinemas will begin screenings for a mini film fest that pays tribute to IFC (Internet Foundation Classes) A class library from Netscape that provides an application framework and graphical user interface (GUI) routines for Java programmers. And Claude Chabrol's dark comedy A Girl Cut in Two (2007) will preview ahead of its summer release. Rounding out BAM's jamboree are two by Frenchman Christophe Honore, both featuring Louis Garrel, progeny of filmmaker Philippe Garrel: Dans Paris (2006), which I panned when it played here last year, and Love Songs (2007), which begins a run March 19. Louis Garrel and Honore are scheduled for a Q&A when BAM screens Love Songs March 2.
