The two companies united their complementary technologies to accelerate product development cycles for the customer premise equipment (CPE) market. The 79RP351 ADSL reference design provides a comprehensive, production-ready solution that enables fast time-to-market for the design of ADSL bridges and routers. The reference design enables designers to reach a competitive bill-of-materials for ADSL bridge and router applications.

Combining the proven interoperability and reliability of Alcatel's MTK-20150 Utopia ADSL chip set with IDT's high-performance RC32355 integrated communications processor, the solution addresses the needs of residential gateway systems builders. The new reference design is highly compact and incorporates an ADSL port, an Ethernet and a USB interface as part of the platform. This powerful product implements added value functions in software to provide system differentiation, including security and system management.

The ADSL reference design supports a wide variety of operating systems, along with software stacks that support bridging and routing functions, security support such as firewall and virtual private networks (VPN). Software stacks such as PPPoE, PPPoA, MPOA and IP routing protocol, are available to facilitate faster software development cycles and speed time to market for designers of CPE equipment.

The IDT79RP351 ADSL bridge/router reference design kit, including schematics and gerber files for manufacturing, priced at $2500 per kit, is currently sampling with production scheduled for early January 2002.
