IDB COMMUNICATIONS GROUP AND GLOBE TELECOM/GMCR (PHILIPPINES) SIGN AGREEMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL TELEPHONE SERVICE

 NEW YORK, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- IDB Communications Group Inc. (NASDAQ: IDBX) announced today that the company's private line and international long distance telephone unit, IDB WORLDCOM, has signed an operating agreement with Globe Telecom/GMCR of the Philippines.
 This agreement with Globe Telecom brings the total to 52 such operating agreements for switched voice services for IDB.
 IDB WORLDCOM's agreement with Globe Telecom, signed by Steve Carroll, president of IDB WORLDCOM, and Mark Anthony Javier, president of Globe Telecom, enables IDB WORLDCOM to provide international public switched service in the Philippines. The service will initially be used for real-time fax.

"It not only allows us to expand our international service offerings but it also allows us to service the growing number of customers who communicate both to and from the Philippines."
