ICY FREEWAY CRASH MAN MIRACULOUSLY SURVIVES WHEN BIG RIG CRUSHES JEEP HE'S SLEEPING IN.

Byline: Daily News

GORMAN - A man sleeping in his broken down Jeep early Tuesday suffered only minor injuries when a big rig Big Rig was a punk band from the San Francisco Bay Area fronted by singer/songwriter Jesse Michaels. Michaels performed with the group after the break up of his previous project, Operation Ivy, and before forming the band Common Rider.  loaded with chemicals ran over his vehicle and slid down a freeway embankment near Gorman.

``Luck, just luck,'' Sgt. Jack Skaggs of the California Highway Patrol's Tejon station said to explain why the sleeping driver was not severely injured or killed.

The Golden State (5) Freeway was icy shortly before 6 a.m. when the trucker, heading north toward the Grapevine, drifted to the right shoulder and ran over the Jeep and the small utility trailer it was hauling.

The man sleeping inside the disabled Jeep had called for help and was resting while he waited, Skaggs said.

The trucker told investigators another driver cut him off, forcing him off the road. The driver, hauling a double set of trailers, went about 10 feet over the side of the freeway, Skaggs said. The second trailer was loaded with baby food.
