SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 6, 1996--In an unprecedented move to offer an affordably priced electronic commerce solution to merchants on the Internet, ICVERIFY, Inc., a pioneer in credit/debit authorization software, and WebMaster, Inc., a leading supplier of Microsoft Windows NT-based Internet server software, today announced CommerceRoom.

The Windows NT-based transaction server software package provides merchants with the ability to securely receive consumer orders and process their credit card payments using the Internet. CommerceRoom will allow merchants to seamlessly migrate to the World Wide Web.

CommerceRoom is the result of a collaborative development effort capitalizing on the expertise of the partner companies. The Windows-NT based server software easily installs into the popular Microsoft Internet Information Server. Customer access is via Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape's Navigator Web browsers. CommerceRoom uses the Internet to gather the customer's credit card information and adds no surcharge to the transaction fees traditionally paid by the merchant to credit card verification services.

Secure Payment Processing

Transaction transmission security between the customer and the merchant's server is via RSA encryption compliance. The merchant is required to obtain an RSA certificate.

CommerceRoom stores transaction information in a secure and non-Internet accessible part of a merchant's system. The transaction database on the merchant's server is console-only accessible and is not network readable, thereby barring Internet access to the transaction data.

CommerceRoom is fully Microsoft BackOffice compatible and supports the major relational database systems, including Microsoft SQL Server, Informix, Oracle and Microsoft Access. CommerceRoom will be sold to OEMs by WebMaster, Inc., and to end-customers via distribution. The manufacturer's suggested retail price is $649.
